Terme della Salvarola / Terme
The mineral waters
Salvarola Terme offers four different types of healthy waters:
- Salty – bromine – iodic thermal water.
- Sulphurous – salty – bicarbonate – alkalinised – muddy thermal water.
- Sulphurous – bicarbonate – magnesium oxide thermal water.
- Sulphurous – bicarbonate – alkalinised – muddy thermal water.
The waters of Salvarola active mechanism
The sodium bromide water benefits from the pharmacotherapeutic characteristics of these waters. It is hypertonic, and therefore, when applied to the mucous membrane, encourages an out flow of serun which clears the mucous membrane of toxic matter and eliminates inflammation.
The water is rich in iodine and bromine, and has the curative effects typical of these elements. However, it has virtually no calcium, and is thus rather better tolerated by the mucous membrane than waters containing this element, as specific experimental research has shown.
Carbonic-sulpurous water is valuable in the area of inhalation. When hydrogen sulphide is applied to the mucous membrane, it causes vasodilatation and increase trophism, whilst carbon dioxine, with its anaesthetising action to the nerve ends, also makes the water tolerated by spastic or allergic ailments.
Magnesium bicarbonate sulphurous water, due to its purgative characteristics is used in the treatment of various forms of constipation, ranging from simple form to secondary.
The Salvarola mud
The Salvarola mud is being obtained by macerating fine clay powder (from our nearby hills) in salty-bromine-iodic water and leave it in specialised tubs for a long time until the water has absorbed all the active ingredients. The benefits, achieved by many years of experience, are demonstrated by the optimal therapeutically effects.
